We had our Annual Back To School event and bought all the kids from Santa Ana Police Athletic & Activity League Summer program their new kicks at Vans to start their new school year. We want to thank Valerie Amezcua Mayor of Santa Ana and Santa Ana City Councilmember Phil Bacerra for their support to our organization and the SAPAAL program. Another successful year for our annual food drive is in the books! We are so happy we were able to help so many families this year, a year where we were all faced with so many challenges. Our team is so glad we were able to help so many with food insecurity in any way we can. Over 150 families in the SAPAAL Program will now be with the food they need this Thanksgiving, and we were able to do so with the big help and support from many organizations!

An Update from Our Team:
(September 2020)
It is with a heavy heart that HHSA must share the devastating news that our President and Executive Director, John Mendez, lost his courageous and long battle with cancer and earned his wings on September 24, 2020 at 7:10 p.m. He gave of himself unselfishly while fighting this disease through our non-profit organization, Helping Hands Santa Ana, which was founded in 2012 by John and his close group of friends who grew up together in Santa Ana. Even while he battled, he still thought of his community and his last wish was for the Helping Hands Santa Ana Annual Turkey Drive 2020 to carry on, that was just the kind of man he was. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Please keep him as well as his family, friends, and the community he loved so much in your prayers. God bless.
